Story behind He Restoreth My Soul
Painting...
The healing warmth of Gods light and love will give us
strength and renew our lives.
In each of our lives we experience many events
that bring us joy as well as sadness. There are also special times when all
seems well, if even for a moment. They are beautiful times of light, peace and
hope.
When one of our twin daughters was born medically
fragile, we experienced a whirlwind of emotions and responsibilities. At six
months old, our sick twin was cared for at a respite facility for five days so
that others in the family could have some time away to rest. Those few days
became the "calm in the middle of the storm" for us.
While on this vacation, our two older daughters
wore long white dresses and wide brimmed hats. They strolled along the lakeside
and then walked near the trees and wild flowers some distance from the shore. I
wanted to capture the hope of those healing moments in a painting, to glean from
them in future times. For that moment, all was right with the world.
This was the first painting I was able to do
since the twins were born. It reminds me of the gift and promise found in Psalms
23, "He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul..." The light
and peace renewed our strength and ability to go on.
Memories of those wonderful bright moments in our
lives bring solace to our minds. My hope is that each will seek for the light
around us in the beauty of His creations, that our hearts will be renewed, and
that we will find peace and comfort in His love.
